Research aimed at elaborating a proposal for knowledge protection mechanisms

Research will be carried out through this project with the aim of elaborating a technical reference document on the protection of traditional knowledge within the context of access to genetic resources and the Andean Decision 391.

The research will be carried out through the following activities:

1. Study of the traditional knowledge systems in Colombia.
2. Identification of appropriate consultation mechanisms for indigenous, Afro-American and black communities.
3. Elaboration of a legal proposal to protect traditional knowledge in the context of access to genetic resources.
4. Elaboration of a proposal of just and equitable distribution of benefits derived from the use of genetic resources, from the black, indigenous and local communities' perspective.
