The Ministry delimits and manages the areas which integrate the National Natural Park System. It also coordinates, promotes and directs research on the environment and natural renewable resources, as well as setting general principles of conservation, preservation, use, and direction of hydrographic river basins and other areas of environmental management such as marine and coastal zones.
