In the following list are maps published in PDF and GEO-PDF form, the latter is a dynamic search format for maps, with two important characteristics:
- Permits the user to add or take away layers of information contained in the PDF archive, as if it had its own GIS application for visualizing. The user must have Acrobat Reader 9.x or higher installed in their computer.
- These maps can also be used in mobile slides (iphone, ipads, or ipod touch) with integrated GPS. For more details please see the following pages: http://www.avenza.com/pdf-maps, or http://www.esri.com/news/arcnews/summer10articles/arcgis-for-iphone.html

The GeoVisor (GeoSiB) is a free, user friendly web tool developed by the Humboldt Institute to integrate spatial information related to knowledge, monitoring and biodiversity management. One can find maps and databases of biological information generated by SiB-Colombia associates and other entities such as the Humboldt Institute and the National Environmental System (Sina), among others.
The Humboldt Institute and the SIB program aim to create a tool that can be of significant help to researchers as well as users of institutions and the private sector to generate and access knowledge of biodiversity in Colombia. To enter click here.
What are the main advantages of the GeoVisor?
-
Geographic information search related to ecosystems, landscapes, protected areas, conservation priorities and other aspects related to biodiversity.
-
Access and spacial analysis of biological information (species registry) of the Distributed System of the Information System on Biodiversity (SiB-Colombia), including data bases of more than 15 nodes of information from research institutes of the Sina, universities, institutions of the public sector and private companies.
-
Spacial analysis of geographic information (superposition) and connection with external services of geographic information (Web Map Services).
-
Addition of user information and the crossing of biological registries and other layers of geographical information to access answers on biodiversity at the level of species registry, ecosystems and other subjects. Registered users can save their work session in the system or print it.
-
Search module of biodiversity knowledge indicators for geographic areas (municipalities, departments, environmental authorities-CAR and biogeographic provinces). Search…
