The Information Exchange Center on Biotechnology Security (CIISB) is a national tool established in the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (ratified in Colombia with Mandate 750 of 2002) to give assistance in the application of its decisions and to facilitate information and experience exchange in relation to the Live Modified Organisms (LMO). The Protocol established with the CIISB serves as part of a mechanism of facilitation of the Agreement on Biological Diversity (mandate 165 of 1994).
Our Objective
To facilitate the exchange of scientific, technical, environmental and legal information and experience related to the LMO and to give assistance in applying the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety.
